All about Plaid Scarf – Easy Intermediate Weaving

February 9, 2016 @ 2:00 pm – 7:00 pm

Join Kara on Tuesday, February 9 from 2 – 7pm. $75 plus materials.

Make your own Burberry-inspired scarf. Explore your Scottish Heritage. Or simply get into checks. Learn how warp and weft colors blend and interact with each other in this classic woven design. Gain confidence in warp design and creation, loom set up, and weft placement. If you have always loved working with color, or want to improve your skills in choosing and coordinating colors, this is the class for you. This project can be woven on an 8” loom (call early to register if you want to use one of ours) or on a wider loom if you have your own. We recommend choosing 3 main colors and 1 accent color to create your own Tartan. The store sample was woven using Lang Asia. Other great yarn choices would be Blue Sky Alpaca,  Zara, or Lang Merino+ Color.  Have fun designing your own plaid at where you can test out color combinations and see how changing the proportions of color can change the whole look of the weave.

Advance preparation may be required depending on the class topic. Details will be provided one week in advance or upon sign-up. Each weekly class session includes two hours of hands-on instruction, and extra help outside of class if needed and our time allows (it almost always does!). Yarn for classes must come from Compatto Yarn Salon, and we are always happy to help you choose the best yarn for your class or project. If you have questions about this or any other class, please give us a call at 310-453-2130.
