Block Party is a special series of Compatto blanket classes which run from
January to October. Each month, the class meets at the beginning of the
month to learn how to knit or crochet a blanket square designed
especially for Compatto Block Party. Over the course of nine months,
knitters and crocheters are given the opportunity to grow their
needlework and pattern-reading skills in small, manageable blocks of
work. The tenth month is a lesson on finishing and a celebration of the
newly-made blanket! There are six different classes to choose from, with each one offering a different skill level or technical emphasis.
Block Party 2 is the natural choice for those who have completed Block Party 1 or are experienced knitters who have a basic understanding of reading patterns. The Block Party 2 patterns are more elaborate, involving traveling cables, botanical motifs, smocking, and eyelet patterns. Then for the last month, you’ll get to design your own block! For this class, you will need approximately 1800-2000 yards of the yarn of your choice, purchased from Compatto, and needles of the appropriate size.
Advance preparation may be required depending on the class topic. Details will be provided one week in advance or upon sign-up. Each weekly class session includes two hours of hands-on instruction, and extra help outside of class if needed and our time allows (it almost always does!). Yarn for classes must come from Compatto Yarn Salon, and we are always happy to help you choose the best yarn for your class or project. If you have questions about this or any other class, please give us a call at 310-453-2130.
