Derecho – Spanish for “direct or straight ahead”. This knit Derecho is a triangular shawl knit modularly in two directions to produce a pattern of interconnected stripes. Two circular needles are used to knit on one side at a time while keeping the other side’s stitches live. Think log cabin in a triangle! Customization comes in many forms with this shawl: use a garter stitch as seen in the Ravelry picture, or a stockinette stitch as Wendy is doing. Work a smaller size or larger size. And think of the endless color possibilities, both expected and unexpected! You will learn how to increase using knit in front and back of a stitch, pick up stitches, and change colors. And in the end you will end up with a wrap that you’ll want to wear all the time. This wrap can be knit in virtually any yarn you love. You can choose from any of our gorgeous sock yarns, Mimi mink, or Baah Aspen like Wendy’s sample. Or use a slightly thicker yarn for a larger, heavier end product.
