Do you have a list of lucky people who will be receiving hand-knit holiday gifts this year? Now is the time to think about what projects you want to make, so that you have time to enjoy knitting them at your leisure. We will be offering a series of one-session classes to get you started on an assortment of fun projects. Every year, hats and scarves are the most popular gift knits for men and women, and all ages–and baby gifts are a year-round need. Pick as many classes as you’d like: one for $35, two for $55, or three for $75. Read on for more details.

Scarves

Choose from three scarves, each with a different design technique and style. Play with color by striping or slipping stitches.

Compatto has an original pattern inspired by Jared Flood’s Noro Striped Scarf, which shows off the beautiful colors of self-striping Noro Silk Garden (sample in store) or any two hand-dyed solids:

The Faux Mitered Mosaic Scarf uses simple slipped stitches to mimic the more-complex technique of mitering:

If you prefer texture to color, try the Rippenschal, a meandering ribbed scarf perfect for the man in your life (sample in SweetGeorgia Trinity Worsted):

Advance preparation may be required, depending on the class topic. Details will be provided at least one week in advance or upon sign-up. Each weekly class session includes two hours of hands-on instruction, or more if needed and our time allows (it almost always does!). Yarn for our classes must come from Compatto Yarn Salon, and we are always happy to help you choose the best yarn for your class or project. Classes must have at least three participants in order to run. If you have questions about this or any other class, please give us a call at 310-453-2130.
