Learn to use pick up sticks to make a honeycomb textured scarf. This is a beautiful stitch that creates a slightly puckered 3-dimensional effect, great for all types of wovens. The design is best made using two colors, one for warp and a contrast for weft. A yarn with a good amount of stretch works especially well for the warp. The store sample was woven using Colinette Jitterbug for the warp on a 10 dpi reed and Baah Sonoma for the weft. Other great yarn choices would be Rowan Lima, Zara, or Artyarns Hand-Dyed with a 7.5 dpi reed. Misti Alpaca or Debbie Bliss Paloma on a 5 dpi reed would make a chunky version. Finer yarns such as the Baah Aspen would also be great using a 12.5 dpi reed. Use your own loom with at least one pick up stick or register early to reserve one of ours. IMG_0501
