Ho’okipa Shawl

May 11, 2016 @ 2:00 pm – 4:00 pm

Join Mary Beth on Wednesdays, May 11, 18 & 25 from 2-4pm. $85 plus materials.

Even with our warm So-Cal weather, we can never escape a little chill in the evening (or air conditioning). It’s always a good idea to carry a little something to wrap around your neck or shoulders, and this lace-edged shawl is the perfect lightweight accessory. The Ho’okipa Shawl is knit end to end, with a lace edging that echoes the waves of Maui, home to the beach it is named for. Length and depth are both customizable for the perfect fit.  With some shaping on right and wrong sides, twisted stitches, eyelet and lace throughout, this project is suitable for the intermediate or adventurous advanced beginning knitter. Any lightweight yarn would be suitable, especially a rich hand-dyed like Ella Rae Lace Merino or SweetGeorgia Merino Silk Fine. Or try the subtle striping of the variegated Rainbow Beach. You can even go a bit heavier with Baah Aspen or Jade Sapphire 4-ply cashmere.

Advance preparation may be required depending on the class topic. Details will be provided one week in advance or upon sign-up. Each weekly class session includes two hours of hands-on instruction, and extra help outside of class if needed and our time allows (it almost always does!). Yarn for classes must come from Compatto Yarn Salon, and we are always happy to help you choose the best yarn for your class or project. If you have questions about this or any other class, please give us a call at 310-453-2130.
