Bobbles, knots, leno, and lace! Whether making a scarf, cowl, or wall hanging, you will be encouraged to get creative and have fun! Learn a variety of techniques that add texture and interest to weaving, including shape and image making. If you ever wanted to try your hand at tapestry weaving or make a groovy wall hanging, now’s your chance. With the easy-to-use rigid heddle loom, you will learn all the basics needed to set up and start weaving. Those brand new to weaving as well as more experienced weavers are welcome. For this class, you will need approximately 100 yards each for warp and weft yarns, and are encouraged to choose a variety of colors and textures. A fine fingering or lace weight yarn for the warp, such as SweetGeorgia Merino Silk Fine or Lang Asia, works well with a chunky yarn such as Blue Sky Bulky or our new Debbie Bliss Lara for the weft. Limited class size, so please sign up early. Use your own rigid heddle loom or call and register early to secure one of ours.
Advance preparation may be required, depending on the class topic. Details will be provided at least one week in advance or upon sign-up. Each weekly class session includes two hours of hands-on instruction, or more if needed and our time allows (it almost always does!). Yarn for our classes must come from Compatto Yarn Salon, and we are always happy to help you choose the best yarn for your class or project. Classes must have at least three participants in order to run. If you have questions about this or any other class, please give us a call at 310-453-2130.
