Thendara is another gorgeous pattern from shawl guru Stephen West. It can easily be made as a scarf or shawl. Using one of his favorite constructions methods, it starts with a striped triangle formed by increases. Then it takes an architectural turn with more increases, the extra fabric creating a graphic shape that drapes beautifully across the shoulders or around the neck. While making this shawl, you’ll learn short rows, yarn overs, slip stitches and make one increases (right and left)–skills that you can apply to many future projects. Try one of our newest yarns–Colinette Jitterbug or Baah Manhattan–or a classic like Jade Sapphire 4-Ply Cashmere or SweetGeorgia Merino Silk Fine (sample). Whatever you choose, you’ll be thrilled with this easy-to-learn yet challenging stunning piece.

Advance preparation may be required, depending on the class topic. Details will be provided at least one week in advance or upon sign-up. Each weekly class session includes two hours of hands-on instruction, or more if needed and our time allows (it almost always does!). Yarn for our classes must come from Compatto Yarn Salon, and we are always happy to help you choose the best yarn for your class or project. Classes must have at least three participants in order to run. If you have questions about this or any other class, please give us a call at 310-453-2130.
