Get a “head” start on holiday gift knitting with some classic hats. Each week we will work on a different knit hat pattern. The Snappy Hat is a classic cabled beanie. Perfect for a quick gift or an instant gratification project, it knits up quickly in bulky yarn. Lowlands is a unique beanie pattern that starts with the brim knit first in garter stitch and then the body of the hat is picked up and worked to the crown. For this hat, the brim is joined using a provisional cast on. Last but not least, the Mawson hat is on trend as either a beanie or slouchy watch cap. Knit in a 1×1 rib, it starts with a Ribbed Cable Cast On, which mimics the look of a tubular cast-on without the extra effort. All three patterns are unisex and the first two can be made in sizes from babies and kids through adults.

Advance preparation may be required depending on the class topic. Details will be provided one week in advance or upon sign-up. Each weekly class session includes two hours of hands-on instruction, and extra help outside of class if needed and our time allows (it almost always does!). Yarn for classes must come from Compatto Yarn Salon, and we are always happy to help you choose the best yarn for your class or project. If you have questions about this or any other class, please give us a call at 310-453-2130.
